Consolor can use pressure mapping to assist with seating evaluations, to ensure that high risk areas are identified, monitored and that the seating surface is shaped appropriately. Pressures are off loaded from, at risk, bony prominences and forces are redistributed to low risk areas.
At Consolor we use Conformat pressure sensors, that stretch and therefore conform to the surface to be measured without hammocking. This provides an accurate and repeatable method of assessing seat pressure both statically and dynamically, from seat, back or both simultaneously. As well as being a useful tool for completing the shape of a custom contoured cushion we can also use pressure mapping to: sense what the client cannot feel, assess seating and postural abnormalities, assess Center of Force position and dynamic paths, assess for pressures that could lead to sores and ulcers, gain real-time feedback of what pressures are being exerted and where, provide pictorial information for patient education.
Pressure Mapping is useful to compare standard cushions so clinicians can make informed product choices. Use of Consolor’s expertise in the manufacture of custom-made seating can also be employed for clients for whom a standard off the shelf cushion is not suitable due to postural asymmetries, physical movements, or high pressures/sores at bony prominences.
Our pressure mapping services are available when purchasing our own products but our services are also available for independent evaluations. Contact us for further information or availability.
